Black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) in tamoxifen-treated breast cancer patients with climacteric complaints – a prospective observational study

DGYE-2010-0210.R1

Rostock, Matthias (contact); Fischer, Julia; Mumm, Andreas; Stammwitz, Ute; Saller, Reinhard; Bartsch, Hans Helge

Laspas, Fotios (contact); Prassopoulos, Vasileios; Vlachou, Fani; Efthimiadou, Roxani; Gogou, Lida; Andreou, John

Androgen-producing ovarian tumors can lead to assessment difficulties because of their small size. We present a case of virilizing steroid cell ovarian tumor in a 41-year-old woman localized with Fluorine-18-Deoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (18FDG-PET/CT). more

Progesterone Inhibits Growth and Induces Apoptosis in Cancer Cells Through Modulation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)

DGYE-2010-0239.R1

Syed, Viqar (contact); Nguyen, Huyen

Objective. Progesterone (P4) has been implicated as a protective factor for ovarian and endometrial cancers, yet little is known about its mechanism of action. The goal of this study was to assess the effect of P4 on cell growth, ROS generation, oxidative stress markers and the expression of antioxidant proteins. more
